To travel a mile, you need to take a step ahead. Although you have miles to go,but it takes one step to commence the journey. PSF Mumbai embarked on the map of the city as an array of young Muslim professionals who have come up to shape up their professional and ethical skills to embark upon as a responsible citizen. The journey of Mumbai Chapter commenced way back in 2017, let’s catch up the gist of our journey as under:

  • It was in March 2017 when a bunch of 15 professionals from Mumbai City who first met at a hotel in Jogeshwari (W), which eventually gave birth to the new chapter called the PSF Mumbai.
  • The eligibility for the members were set with a minimum qualification as graduation was decided as the basic criteria or a professional with a technical background.
  • Taking up several on-ground activities to engage professionals and members carried out seeking the help of PSF members. The activities included Ramadan kits distribution, raising money for natural calamities like Kerala Flood Relief and Covid migrant labourers.
  • Distribution of Water bottles to Traffic personnel working under scorching summers. The blanket distribution during winters among slums and carrying social campaigns like the anti-drugs campaign. Conducting regular expert lectures for college students and mock interviews for aspiring professionals. 

Key Events Timeline

The time line for PSF Mumbai goes the following way:

  • April 2017 – June 2019: All city PSF Members meet held twice on a bi-monthly meeting at the Mumbai level.
  • December 2018: PSF Mumbai officially collaborated with Ideal Relief Committee Trust (IRCT) for managing and running its program sponsorship program called ‘Kafalat’
  • February 2019: Initiating the process of establishing an Advisory board
  • February 2019: Initiating the registration of PSF Mumbai Trust calling it as ‘Solidarity Education and Welfare Foundation’
  • May 2019: PSF Mumbai raises funds for its venture – Kafalat seeking its members. It successfully managed to support the education expenses of 78 students under the Kafalat program
  • June 2019: Initiated the decentralization in the Mumbai city by creating three Chapters – Mira Road, Navi Mumbai and Rest of Mumbai. This led to the creation of a separate WhatsApp group for each chapter.
  • April 2019 to March 2020: PSF Mumbai Mira Road supported the local MBMC school by providing a school teacher, which was sponsored under the Kafalat Program
  • July 2019: Chapter wise bi-monthly meets were organized for the respective chapters at Mira Road, Navi Mumbai and Andheri
  • August 2019: The first female professionals WhatsApp was group created
  • June 2020: PSF Mumbai raised funds through its members to supports the education expenses of 89 students under the Kafalat program
  • September 2020: Professionals’ Solidarity Forum was created with the help of commencing a WhatsApp group that crossed 180 members.
